At Ottawa Safe Drivers, we proudly offer high-quality driver training to Nepean residents. Whether you are just beginning your journey behind the wheel, preparing for your G2 or G road test, or looking to sharpen your driving skills, we provide professional instruction tailored to your needs.
Our mission is to help you pass your test and develop the confidence and skills to drive safely for life. Driving in Nepean comes with various experiences, such as navigating busy streets like Merivale Road, handling traffic on Baseline, or merging onto Highway 417.
Our instructors know the area well and design driving lessons to prepare you for the specific conditions you will face. We focus on real-world skills, ensuring you’re ready for more than the test when you get your license.
We know you have options for driving schools, but our reputation is committed to safety, professionalism, and student success. Here’s what sets us apart:
We offer a range of services to meet the needs of drivers at all stages. Whether you’re starting from zero or need help refining your technique, we have a driving lesson plan.
For new drivers, we start with the essentials: vehicle control, steering, braking, and basic maneuvers, building your skills in quieter Nepean neighbourhoods before introducing more complex driving environments.
If your G2 test is coming up, we focus on the exact requirements examiners look for: parallel parking, three-point turns, smooth lane changes, and correct stopping distances. We also practice on routes similar to those you might encounter during your test.
We go beyond city driving for the full G license and prepare you for highway conditions, high-speed merging, and advanced maneuvers. We also emphasize confidence and calm under pressure.
If you haven’t driven in years or feel nervous on the road, our refresher driving lessons help you rebuild your skills and ease any anxiety. This is also ideal for drivers new to Ontario’s road rules.
We cover defensive driving techniques, updated road rules, and areas where you feel less confident.
Our defensive driving sessions teach you to predict other drivers’ actions, manage space effectively, and adjust to challenging conditions, skills that can make a real difference in everyday driving.
Nepean offers a diverse driving environment, from busy commercial districts to quiet suburban streets. Our driving lessons help you handle:
We know that every student learns differently. Our instruction is flexible, supportive, and focused on your progress.
We offer single sessions for those who need just a quick review and multi-lesson packages for new drivers who want complete preparation from start to finish. Our packages are designed to give you the best value while ensuring you get the comprehensive training you need.

The Ministry-approved Beginner Driver Education (Driver’s Ed) course at Ottawa Safe Drivers is a structured program designed to teach new drivers the skills and knowledge needed to drive safely and responsibly. This course typically includes both classroom instruction (or self-study online) and in-car training, covering essential topics such as traffic laws, defensive driving techniques, and safe driving practices. Completing a BDE course can qualify participants for insurance discounts and help them take their G2 road test 8 months from the issue date of G1 license.
To register for the in-class or online BDE (Driver’s Ed) course, please complete the registration form on the in-class or online BDE course page, and send your payment to info@ottawasafedrivers.ca
You can begin the theory portion of the BDE course without a G1 licence. However, you will need a G1 licence to participate in the in-car training sessions.
Completing the BDE course allows you to take your G2 road test after eight months instead of waiting an entire year. You will be eligible for insurance discounts.
The in-car training sessions with Ottawa Safe Drivers provide hands-on experience with a certified instructor. You will learn practical skills like vehicle handling, defensive driving, and road safety, all crucial for passing the G2 road test.
Students must score at least 70% to pass the final exam, which includes both the theory and homework portions. You have three attempts to pass the theory exam and unlimited attempts for the homework exam.
The duration to complete the BDE (Driver’s Ed) course varies based on factors such as your availability and the driving school’s availability. Anyway, you will have 12 months to complete both the theory and in-car training lessons.
Yes, we offer flexible scheduling for in-car training sessions. You can coordinate with your instructor to find times that fit your availability, even if you still need to finish the online theory portion.
The training lesson can last for one hour, one and a half hours, or two hours, depending on the availability of your instructor and yourself.
If you need more practice, you can purchase additional in-car training hours. We offer packages that include extra hours to make sure you are prepared for your road test.
Upon completing the online theory and in-car training, we will update your information with the Ministry of Transportation Ontario (MTO). You can then request a course completion certificate from Service Ontario, which can be used for insurance purposes.
