About BDE Course:
Please note: This course is designed to help you get your G2 licence faster ( you can do your G2 road test after 8 months from the issue date of your G1 license ) and NOT to do your G1 knowledge test.
- The BDE course consists of theory portion- 20 hours of theory & 10 hours of homework and 10 hours in-car training sessions. The school will certify you only if you complete both the theory and in-car portion within ONE YEAR.
- Complete the theory part of the course at home at your own pace!
- The theory part is a digital interactive program where a student completes 20 hours of theory & 10 hours of homework, accessible 24/7, there is NO class & NO teacher, materials and videos are pre-prepared to cover the theory portion.
- To register :
- Please email us using info@ottawasafedrivers.ca a clear copy of your licence, cell phone number and email address. If you want to do the theory part in FRENCH, please let us know. We prefer English language for IN-CAR sessions.
- please E-transfer the price of the desired package to info@ottawasafedrivers.ca
- Once we receive your information and payment, we will complete your registration and email you an E-LEARNING link for the theory part of the course, within 24 hours.
- You can take the theory part of the course without having the G1 licence, but you will need it for the in-car training sessions.
- Once you complete registration and start the theory part, we can arrange for your 10 hours in-car training sessions depending on your availability even before finishing the online part.
- Once you complete both the 10 hours in-car training sessions and the theory part, we will update your information with the MTO system so you can book your driving test after 8 months from the date you got the G1 licence.
- Please note; you can get a letter from Service Ontario that confirms your completion of the BDE course with us which you may use to get a lower insurance rate.
BDE PROGRAMME OVERVIEW:
The course consists of
- 20 hours of online self-study theory

Students need to complete both the theory & in-car sessions within one year period so that the School can certify them
Theory program overview
The program is highly interactive slides, activities, & videos and students can learn at their own pace, working from the comfort of their own homes, schools, work, or anywhere, at anytime of the day or night. Course support is available daily between 8am and 10pm

Final Exam
The exam is a total of 35 questions and students must obtain a 70% or higher score to pass the course as per the BDE MTO Standards. Students have 3 attempts to pass the final exam.

Final Exam
The exam is a total of 35 questions and students must obtain a 70% or higher score to pass the course as per the BDE MTO Standards. Students have unlimited attempts to pass the final exam.

In-car Private Lessons
Ottawa Safe Drivers driving school provides one-on-one in-car driving lessons using an automatic car, we offer driving lessons to nervous beginners and those with varying skill levels. We help you to become a skilled, safe, knowledgeable and defensive driver. We’ve helped hundreds of students pass their road test using our knowledge and training which gives our students a confidence boost. Lessons can be 1 hour minimum,1.5 hour, 2 hours or more upon your request.
The driving school training car is equipped with:
- Dual brake system
- Rooftop sign
- Passenger side wide rear-view mirror
- Commercial insurance
At Ottawa Safe Drivers driving school, we make sure you get all skills, road rules and driving techniques required to pass your test. Ottawa Safe Drivers driving school offers pick-up and drop-off at your chosen location. Some remote areas require arrangement in advance. You can book an evaluation session if you like to know how much time you may need to get ready for your road test.

G2/G Road Test
Ottawa Safe Drivers driving school provides car rental for G2 and Full G road tests. This package comes with 1 hour driving lesson before the road test. If you are looking to do your test at the Walkley or Canotek test centres, we will show you the exact test routes that you will be taken on during your test. We also help people who have tests outside of Ottawa (This will cost more depending on the location of your test)
What to expect at the test day?
At the test day our instructors often meet the student about 1.5 hour prior to his/her test time. We do a 1-hour training session focusing on the test requirements. About half an hour prior to the test appointment, we let the student register his/her test at the test centre. The student will be waiting in the car for the examiner.
G1 exit road test (G2 Licence)
The G2 test will take place in residential and business roads. The G2 road test will examine:
- Your driving skills (steering, gas and break)
- Knowledge of road rules and regulations
- Driving techniques
- Observation skills
- Judgment skills
- Lane changes
- Decision making
- Front parking
- Reverse parking
- Parallel parking
- Three-point turn
- Uphill parking (with and without curb)
- Downhill parking (with and without curb)
G2 exit road test (G licence)
The full G road test will take place in residential, business and highway roads. The G road test will examine:
- Your driving skills (steering, gas and break)
- Knowledge of road rules and regulations
- Driving techniques
- Observation skills
- Judgment skills
- Lane changes
- Decision making
- Front parking
- Reverse parking
- Parallel parking
- Three-point turn
- Emergency roadside stop
- Highway merging & exiting
G2/G road test prices:
- $160 for car rental and 1-hour refresher before your G2 road test.
- $170 for car rental and 1-hour refresher before your Full G road test.
Note:
Usually we meet our students at the test centre 1.5 hour before test time to do the 1 hour refresher, arrangements must be made for pick up and drop off. Road tests that take place outside of Ottawa will cost more depending on how far the drive test is.
